Seeds of the Future

The seeds of the future are planted in our past
So oft-times sewn though unbeknown along the way
Sprouting in due season in the place they were cast
Nurtured and pruned by what we do this present day
The fruit at the harvest makes the evidence plain
Be it stalks of goodness, peace and impartial love
Or ignoble weeds of discord, sorrow and pain
Our thoughts in roots below, shown on our lips above
Like the seed of a flower yields a sweet bouquet
My love for you is a seed I planted just now
Much like the very seed I planted yesterday
For the lifetime harvest of love it will endow
